ESCO-ZA Teams up with Wal-Mart to Support the Troops!

By Gary Ell, Marketing Creative Director

June 17— Aston PA—Scott Damrauer woke up this morning, got ready for the day, and drove down I-95. Engineered Arresting Systems Corporation (ESCO-ZA) is where you can find him most days.  He works in a cubicle, free from the elements, and in relative safety.  But it wasn’t too long ago that Scott was in Iraq, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  It is easy for some to forget those men and women serving our country overseas, who are not working in a safe and comfortable environment.  Scott, whom is now retired from active duty, sees things a bit differently. With the  generosity and support of ESCO-ZA and Wal-Mart, Scott organized a care package program that is making a difference to those men and woman serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Along with fellow employee, Chuck Fazio, Scott discussed a care package collection for the troops here at ESCO-ZA.  Once they promoted it, they were inundated with generous support from the employees at the facility.  In the very first week they had enough donations to send their first package, 44 pounds!  Both Chuck and Scott were amazed and grateful for the generosity of the ESCO-ZA employees.  What is the reason for this passion for the troops?  The answer is: Neil Cuerden.  Neil is an employee here at ESCO-ZA and is assigned to the 56th Stryker Brigade, Pennsylvania Army National Guard.  Neil was activated last year with the rest of his Brigade.  They are currently serving in Taji, Iraq providing security and assisting the local Iraqi population.

Wal-Mart was asked to donate money for much needed items.  These items included toiletries, non-perishable foods, and the always required, baby wipes.  Without hesitation, Wal-Mart donated $500 and ESCO-ZA matched that for a total of $1,000.  In May, the president of ESCO-ZA, Spencer Hoos and his fellow employees, joined Leon Graham, Boothwyn Wal-Mart Store Manager, for a shopping spree.  After only an hour, and five shopping carts later, ESCO-ZA and Wal-Mart completed their mission.  With the help of the Wal-Mart associates and ESCO-ZA employees, we managed to spend our donated money.  ESCO-ZA has since put the packages together and have them sent to the troops.
